Rottweiller Overview
The Rottweiler breed is one of the world’s oldest breeds of dog still being bred today. Sometimes known as the butcher’s dog due to its history and working background during its origins in Rottweil, Germany.
Appearance
Of medium yet muscular, broad and strong appearance epitomises the Rottweiler. The head is of medium size with tight fitting skin. The body is straight with a powerful chest and the legs are well proportioned and equally set apart.
Temperament
The Rottweiler is loyal and obedient with a calm affinity towards children and families. They brave with a sometimes humorous self assured aloofness. Although well natured handling would be best suited to those with experience handling larger dogs.
Working and Tasks
Rottweilers can handle most work although a predisposition toward herding is present with great sense to control a situation. Rottweilers are used for various tasks such as backyard companions through to commercial guarding, police and military tasks.
