Sporting Dogs
With the introduction of firearms in hunting, many breeders turnedĀ theirĀ attention from the development of swifter breeds, for example, and took a greater interest in nurturing other natural canine traits, such as swimming and going to earth.
The resultant is a sporting family of dogs that are highly intelligent, responsive and indeed trustworthy. The sporting dog breed family includes water dogs, flushing dogs, setters, pointers and retrievers - that combine an instinctive ability with a willingness to learn. Although most sporting dogs have a penchant for being noisy and at times destructive if confirmed for long periods, they are generally easy to train, almost always patient with children and make spirited household pets.
